Job Description – Corporate Lawyer

 

BC Housing is seeking a Corporate Lawyer to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on a wide range of commercial law matters. This role includes drafting and negotiating complex agreements such as service contracts, partnership agreements, public procurement documentation, and secured financing agreements. The successful candidate will support BC Housing’s operations in critical areas such as insurance, compliance, construction, commercial leasing, and energy, ensuring legal frameworks align with the organization’s mission and operational goals.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Draft and negotiate public procurement agreements, funding agreements, and partnership contracts.
  • Provide corporate governance advice, including restructuring and compliance with corporate statutes.
  • Support the organization’s privacy and Freedom of Information initiatives.
  • Manage templates, revisions, and legal risks with housing providers.
  • Offer legal expertise on financial agreements, secured lending, and insurance provisions.
  • Oversee external counsel managing corporate matters to ensure efficiency and quality.

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

 

  • Law Degree (LL.B or J.D.) and membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia (or eligibility within three months).
  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience in corporate law, with expertise in governance, procurement, and financial agreements.
  • Strong understanding of corporate compliance, contract management, and privacy law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of agreements and transactions efficiently.

 

Compensation ranges from $113,698 to $204,668, depending on experience.
