Job Description – Lawyer, Corporate/Commercial

 

Due to ongoing growth, our client is seeking a Corporate/Commercial lawyer to join its esteemed team. The successful candidate will represent clients in a range of corporate commercial transactions, with a particular focus on Indigenous matters.

Candidates with experience or a strong interest in working with Indigenous clients and communities are particularly encouraged to apply.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in a variety of corporate commercial matters, including M&A transactions and corporate reorganizations.
  • Assist clients at all stages of the business growth cycle in respect to financings, strategic corporate transactions, and general corporate matters.
  • Provide support to senior counsel and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in and support business development activities, including client relationship management.

 

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent).
  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society.
  • 5+ years of corporate commercial experience at a top tier firm, and experience working with Indigenous clients and communities.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and a pragmatic approach.
